How To Make Beet Red Colored Modeling Clay

It’s Valentine, a time for love and togetherness shared with family, lovers, and friends. As we stay at home with the people we love, why not get creative, gather your crew, and make some modeling clay-colored with beet juice.

This tutorial for modeling clay is easy to create, non-toxic, and fun to make with your friends and family. You will need a few ingredients, a pot, and a spoon so let’s get to the fun part, making the clay.

What You Will Need:

1 Cup of Table Salt

1 Cup of Water

1 Medium Red Beet (Chopped Up)

1 Sauce Pan

1/2 Cup Cornstarch

1/4 Cup of Cold Water

Freezer Paper for storage

Step 1.

Chop your red beet into slices and place in a saucepan with 1 cup of water. Boil for ten minutes, then remove beets from water, leaving only the beet juice in the pot.

Step 2.

Add 1 cup of salt to beet juice and simmer for 5 minutes while stirring the mixture. Turn off heat and add 1/2 cup of cornstarch and 1/4 cup of cold water. Stir mixture, then let cool for an hour.

Step 3.

Tear off a large piece of Freezer Paper and lay flat onto a hard surface. Pour your cooled clay onto the paper and lightly dust the clay with cornstarch. Mold your clay, then place the clay in your fridge for two hours allowing your modeling clay to set.

Your clay is now ready to use. Mold clay in whatever shape you like and allow the clay to dry for a few days for any permanent designs. Use glaze to finish your new creations (optional) and enjoy your toxic-free products.

We hope you liked this family-friendly tutorial, and remember Valentine's Day is a celebration of love and togetherness. It doesn't matter if you celebrate with your boyfriend or your brand new puppy. Enjoy the love fest and be as creative as possible while doing so.
