Choosing The Best Vegetables To Grow In The North East

If you're looking to start an urban garden in the northeastern part of America, you're in luck! Plenty of vegetables thrive in this region and can be grown even in a small space. With a garden space of 4 feet by 8 feet wide, you can grow various vegetables and use grow bags to expand your growing space. Here are some of the best vegetables to grow in an urban garden in the Northeast: 1. Tomatoes:   Tomatoes are a popular choice for urban gardens because they can be grown in containers or grow bags. They love the sun and warmth and are easy to care for. You can choose from various tomato plants, including cherry, beefsteak, and heirloom. 2. Peppers:   Peppers are another great option for urban gardens. They come in various colors and heat levels, from sweet bell peppers to hot jalapenos. El Flamboyan Garden Receives Citizens Committee Grant for Capital Improvements

Dear Farmers and KSBA Community Members,

As you know, the KSBA has played a significant role in the reorganization and development of El Flamboyan Garden. Our goal was and remains to build a structure within the 1/2 acre community farm site that helps grow healthy food for the community and build strong community leaders within The Bronx community. We are happy to report that El Flamboyan Garden just received a grant from the Citizens Committee of New York to help rebuild to site and host community workshops.

This is a significant milestone for this farming committee. We have worked hard to rebuild the site by bootstrapping, and the process has been stressful. Last year we celebrated our accomplishments together by creating our own end-of-season harvest fair. We hope to bring this event back this year. Our core focus is replacing our broken shed and building our compost system from the ground up. We have gotten a lot of help from GreenThumb and the department of the corrections youth program; for that, we are thankful.

We look forward to giving you more updates on this community project site and, as always, remain healthy and happy.

Best,

KSBA Community Organizer
