End of the 2021 Season For El Flamboyan Garden

Yummy Radishes

Yet another season has come and gone for El Flamboyan Garden.

This year has been amazing! We teamed up with the NYC Department of Probation and invited some amazing young adults to help rebuild El Flamboyan Garden. We laid down mulch and pulled weeds until the end of the season.

We also had High School Volunteers laying down mulch and helping develop our composting system. Our workdays were on Saturdays from 9 am to 2 pm. It's a lot of ground to cover but, we did the work every week until it was done.

The members of El Flamboyan Garden provided water and snacks for all of the community garden farmworkers. Some of our workdays were really hot but, we powered through to complete the tasks at hand.

This is the first season we established community farmstand beds where community members who didn't get a chance to grow at the farm can now get fresh and free produce for their families.

A very big THANK YOU for support from GreenThumb (NYC Parks Department), New York Sanitation Department, and all the members and volunteers who worked so hard to repair the farm this year. We can't wait for next year, but for now, it's time to celebrate with our annual Harvest Festival. More information on this event will be posted shortly.
